Stanford University Summer Session

Author: Time:2018-03-23

My Academic Experience

I really enjoyed the two months in Stanford in the Summer 2013. I read and learned a lot there every day not because my instructor asked me to, but because I wanted to explore more in such a fabulous academic atmosphere. “You’re not only studying in one of the best universities in the world, but you’re also surrounded by people of the same caliber. The depth of the conversations I had and the people I got to know made me realize that I wanted to be a part of real change in the world and to do something meaningful.” I like the words from this former summer session student and I believe you will agree with us too in the future.

Admission is Easy

Actually it is not too hard to apply for the summer session program in Stanford. Online application begins in January each year, and should ideally be complete before mid-April when course selection begins. Then, of course, you need up to six weeks for applying for your visa, before it starts in mid-June.  Their website provides all the information you need to know about the program. High GPA and fluent English will of course increase your probability of admission. However be brave to show off your strengths and everything is possible at Stanford!

Stanford Overview

Stanford University is located between San Francisco and San José in the heart of Silicon Valley, and is recognized as one of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions. Leland and Jane Stanford founded the University to “promote the public welfare by exercising an influence on behalf of humanity and civilization.” Stanford opened its doors in 1891, and more than a century later, it remains dedicated to finding solutions to the great challenges of the day and to preparing our students for leadership in today’s complex world.

Life on Campus

I really appreciated the opportunity to study in Stanford, and it totally lived up to my expectations. Everything was unforgettable there and I have experienced the most meaningful two months. The friends I have made, the places I have been and the courses I have enrolled in, have all contributed to my colorful summer.

Study hard for play even harder! During the weekdays I tried my best to read more, to take notes and to finish the assignments. I always stayed up until morning for the due day of homework. This may sound horrible but I have to say it is the real Stanford. Everyone worked hard for the weekends, including me. After five days of diligent study, the weekend was the most exciting part of my life in Stanford; there were so many different kinds of parties and even a sightseeing tour to San Francisco organized by the university. You have lots of options for entertainment and relaxing to reward yourself for your five days’ hard work. Life is crazy on the Stanford campus but I really enjoyed it.

You May Be Next!

You will never figure out what Stanford feels like until you come and experience it yourself. I cannot guarantee that you will have the same feelings as mine and enjoy it as much as I did, but at least I can say that Stanford will never disappoint you. You will be the next one!
