On the evening of December 30, 2023, Cuiying Honors College successfully held the “New Cuiying Sailing to Zhiyuan, Building Dreams” New Year’s Eve Gala at the Zhiyuan Building, Yuzhong Campus. Yan Chunhua, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Lanzhou University, and Dean of Cuiying Honors College, Gou Xiaohua,Vice President of Lanzhou University and He Deyan,assistant to the President and Executive Dean of Cuiying Honors College, attended the gala. Relevant leaders from the school’s administrative offices, departments of academic construction and development planning, academic affairs, student affairs, and other functional departments, representatives of academic advisors from Cuiying Honors College, and all faculty and students participated in the event.
The gala began with a dynamic nunchaku performance, “The Assembly of Wind and Clouds”, setting an energetic tone.
The dance “Thousand Lights Wish · Dunhuang” beautifully displayed Chinese culture through graceful movements.
The saxophone quartet “Spirited Away Suite” and classical guitar “Moonlight Duet” added a tranquil, dreamlike atmosphere.
The songs “Youth Against” and “Perfect” deeply resonated with the audience, invoking feelings of youthful experiences and emotional depth.
The beautiful duet “Moon Full of the West Tower” is filled with classical beauty. It expresses the longing for relatives, friends, or lovers who are far away.
“Perfect”, with its melodious tune and gentle narrative, reaches deep into the hearts of the audience, winning rounds of applause and cheers.
The rock song "Blacksheep" brought a vigorous auditory and visual impact, while "The Road to Heaven" transported the audience to the majestic Tibetan Plateau.
With the moving melody of the song “Heavenly Road”, the audience felt as if they were travelling on a train to the Tibetan Plateau in the rolling snowy mountains, and were shocked by the unique beauty of the Roof of the World, the Snowy Plateau, and the industriousness and wisdom of the labouring people.
The collective recitation of “Youth China” by the Grade 22 Mathematics class expressed the students’ deep love for the motherland and praise for youth, and the students’ voices were like thunderous thunderbolts, which inspired them to strive unremittingly.
The self-directed sitcom “I Love Physics” by the Grade 22 Physics Class combined scientific research with comedy elements, paying tribute to the role models while expressing the students’ firm belief in pursuing their scientific research dreams.
The evening came to an end with the chorus of “The Brightest Star in the Night Sky” by the Grade 22 Humanities Class.
The event highlighted student achievements with the "Cuiying Role Model" awards and concluded with a choir performance of “The Brightest Star in the Night Sky”. The “New Cuiying Sailing to Zhiyuan, Building Dreams” gala not only welcomed new students but also celebrated the opening of the Zhiyuan Building and the establishment of the “Zhiyuan Choir”. marking a renewal and forward momentum for Cuiying Honors College.
Students of Cuiying Honors College will compose the most beautiful verses of youth with their devotion to the nation and will play the most magnificent chapters of life with their relentless efforts.
