On the afternoon of November 11, 2021, Prof. Guozhi Chai of the College of Physical Science and Technology, the academic advisor of the Physics Class of 2020, conducted an online meeting on the topic of "Introduction to Physics Research".

During the meeting, Prof. Chai introduced the detailed classification of physics to the students, and also introduced the faculty members of the School of Physics and their research results in detail. After that, Prof. Chai also introduced the connection between physics and various disciplines, and explained how to understand the mentors and their research directions.

On the afternoon of November 11, Prof. Pengfei Xu from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the research mentor of Chemistry class, was invited by Cuiying Honors College to give a lecture on "Interpretation of Nobel Prize in Chemistry" through an online meeting.

Prof. Pengfei Xu has been working on asymmetric synthesis and asymmetric organocatalysis for a long time and has achieved a series of results. In the lecture, Prof. Pengfei Xu talked about the importance of asymmetric organic small molecule catalysis, the development of the concept of asymmetric organic small molecule catalysis, the main challenges of asymmetric organic small molecule catalysis, the contribution of domestic scientists in the field of asymmetric organic small molecule catalysis and the inspiration for students' education and training.

On the morning of November 13, Shang Sheng, Deputy Party Secretary of Cuiying Honors College, had a discussion and exchange with the class presidents of the Class of 2020 and the cadres of the Student Council of the College League in A306 of the Second Teaching Building of Yuzhong Campus.

At the seminar, each department reported on the main work carried out recently, and each class president introduced the students' study situation and the problems they encountered in the learning process.

Mr. Shang Sheng responded to the questions raised by the students, emphasized the importance of improving comprehensive quality, and encouraged the students to actively participate in practical activities, to closely combine the first class with the second class, and to promote the all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and social skills. As the first batch of top students in Yuzhong campus, he asked the students to have a sense of ownership, inherit the culture of the college school, enhance the cohesion of the students and improve the sense of collective honor by innovating student activities, jointly organizing cultural and sports activities and forming interest groups.
